Baltimore City Green Building Law

Today's Daily Record ("New plan for Legg headquarters, green building requirements OK’d"; subscription) reports that Baltimore City Council bill number 07-0602 (the "Baltimore City Green Building Law") was recently approved by the Baltimore Planning Commission. The bill would require commercial developers who receive loans, tax credits or other benefits from the city to be certified by the U.S. Green Building Council. The bill also requires developers not receiving assistance from the City to incorporate "green" elements into their design, although the they would not require certification. Although approved by the Planning Commission, the bill is still in committee in the City Council. For more on this issue, see this report from the Baltimore City Council and Baltimore City Green Building Task Force.
